The Livingstone Tanzania Trust (LTT) is a micro charity working in Rural Tanzania seeking to alleviate poverty through education and sustainable community development.

To date we have improved the educational environment for the Waangwaray Primary School (480 students), but this is just the beginning of our work. LTT’s objective is to tackle poverty in the community by providing meaningful, applicable, sustainable and replicable education facilities. LTT seeks to educate both children and adults alike to give them the knowledge and the skills to work their own way out of poverty and live a full life. Our Strategy is to: -

  1. Improve the student education environment by repairing building, reducing class sizes, improving the teaching resources, training the teachers and improving their knowledge.

  2. Improve the health of the community by improving diet and teaching personal and domestic hygiene and disease prevention.

  3. Develop a sustainable source of income for the school to pay for the above. (Being dependant on donations and grants is not sustainable or desirable)

Our work is funded through community tourism, grants, philanthropic donations and volunteering, and in the future will also be funded by community-based cottage industries.

Our current projects include classroom, teachers’ houses and toilet facility building; teacher and student capacity building; health awareness; farming development and training, goat breeding, volunteer accommodation building, football pitch building, and the building of an irrigation system for the school farm.

We are always on the look out for tourists, volunteers or anyone who wants to offer advice or financial assistance
